Dr Anita Tannis joins PureTalk to talk about perimenopause and how it can effect women as early as 35 years of age. Dr Tannis shares tips on how to manage and treat symptoms and when and how to approach this subject with your healthcare provider.
Dr. Tannis is a frequent speaker in her extended community on subjects related to Stress and Hormones and has taught physicians and Naturopaths both locally and in the US. Until recently, Dr. Tannis led an Integrative and Functional Medicine based practice in West Vancouver treating peri and menopausal women with whatever tools were necessary to create inner and outer balance: hormones, detox, diet, nutraceuticals, acupuncture, awareness, movement, meditation and conventional medications.
Dr Tannis is an Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Family Practice at UBC and is certified in Medical Acupuncture. She was a physician for five years with Canada’s unique Integrative Cancer Care Center, Inspire Health, and has spent 22 years working with Vancouver Community Health (VCH) primarily with adolescent sexual and mental health and with Immigrants and Refugees.
Dr. Tannis is a mother and a daughter who continues to study variations on Transpersonal Psychology, Buddhism, and yoga, yet has found her greatest teachers to be her daughter and her partner, her patients and the ever-surprising world around her. She has a passion for personal development and the outdoors—all of which deeply informs her work.
